about

Product of the Pandemic.

Remix of the classic Public Enemy track "Public Enemy No. 1" using Ray Barretto's "Power." Featuring killah kuts from the homie RTST. I like this one because it softens and gives some swing to the original PE track and also makes Chuck D sound super old school and disco-rappy.

This was one of the first tracks I worked on since being under quarantine beginning 3/15/2020. That entire week, I spent an average of 10 hours a day working on music. It was all I could do keep my head up after losing so much due to 'Ronies. I was (and still am!) thankful to have my health, and to have a creative outlet to put these weirds emos into.

The songs that came out this phase are far different than anything I've done before. Not so much in genre or vibe but rather in technique. Having so much time to spare allowed me to dive into production methods that I had previously avoided because of the time it took to learn. This includes playing instruments live instead of relying so heavily on the sample source material.

Also, and possibly, more importantly, were the collaborations that arose from isolation. For whatever reason, I never saw these edits and remixes as something for more than one person to contribute to. But again, given the time and space to really dig into creating, all sorts of possibilities started to present themselves.

So bear witness the newness. Hope you all dig. There are many more to be posted in the coming weeks!
